Some Air Travel Tips That can Turn Your Trip Hassle-free

Baffling and enlightening at the same time! There is just no other way that can credibly intern the beautiful mystery that is India. While its diversity is overwhelmingly in your face, its oneness in national obsessions of cricket and movies takes you aback. From snow-topped mountain peaks to sun-spangled coastal lines, serene shrines to feisty fiestas, lamp-lit small towns to IT-breathing metropolises, it is scarcely shocking that this nation has been hailed as the earth’s most multidimensional. Adore it or abhor it, no India travel guide can do full justice to it and most tourists oscillate between the two. India guarantees to push around your whole being, and it doesn’t matter where you choose to go or what you wish to do, it will be something that is going to be etched in your mind forever.

Now that the civil aviation industry in India has perked up dramatically, most foreign visitors as well as native tourists prefer to tour around the country by air. If you reserve fairly in advance, the prices hardly differ from that of train so why waste your precious time lolling about in a dingy train? Yes, reserving early is one of the most important air travel tips when you come to travelling by air in India. As the saying goes, proper planning means half the job done. But in doing your flight booking early, it also means half the money saved. Remember, do not expect the Indian flights, especially those budget flights to function as though on clockwork. Timings tend to fluctuate now and again and you can almost hear someone whispering, ‘welcome to India’.

It seems as if the tour itineraries offered by various travel companies in India are as diverse as the country itself. You may choose a trip to the magnificent Himalayas or opt to cruise along the balmy backwaters of Kerala in a houseboat. Then there are the Goan beaches, the infamous golden triangle tour (Delhi, Agra, Jaipur), picturesque hill stations like Shimla, Nainita, Ooty and so on. Or take off to the temple cities like Puri, Madurai and Varanasi. So planning may not be as easy as you think and your air travel might get affected by this. Just another of those unpredictable situations you can think back on and laugh!

Things to remember when you are flying overseas

Air travel is always an exciting experience, more so if it’s the first time that you are boarding a plane. Air travel requires a little planning to ensure a smooth and comfortable flight. Longer the flight more is the planning required for a smooth journey. One should ensure that one’s name spelled on the ticket is same spelled on the passport. Double check the flight timings to avoid any awkward glitches. It is always a smart thing to do to reach the airport a minimum of two hours before the time of departure of your flight keeping in mind that air traffic can vary.

A little thought should go into the luggage you intend to carry and is often advisable to check with the airline about baggage allowance. While packing, keep it basic, don’t overdo it and never ever dismiss the weather of the destination city. Always retrospect on the transportation options from the airport of your destination city and remember to get local currency especially in smaller denominations. Most airports provide the facility of money exchange. In certain cities, finding people to speak English may be a little tricky so it will be extremely street smart to carry along a map of the place. Try not planning anything urgent or taking care of any pressing issues the day you reach your destination for there could be many unexpected twists in terms of flight delays, the distance between the airport and the city could be more than you expected. Smile a lot during your stay and connect with the locals and have a memorable trip.

Time to breathe easy for air travelers

Most air travelers breathed a sigh of relief with the announcement of the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) in regard of some restrictions being abolished about ‘carry ons’ in domestic and international flights which were imposed in August. There has been a change not only in the United States of America but a change has also been introduced in the United Kingdom about what can be carried on board as a carry on. Medicines and baby food or milk are no longer the only liquids that are permitted on the flight. However, TSA has been specific about the quantity that is to be allowed on board and it is to be three ounces. The news has been delightful for most travelers whose luggage comprises only of carryon items.

If we try to whisk through the products that are now permitted in your carry it would include shampoos, liquid soap, and fragrances that are to be placed in a quart-size, clear plastic zip top bag. Medicines, saline solutions and baby food don’t need to be placed in clear bags. Liquid items bought on the concourse are also permitted on the flight. Electronic items including PDAs, laptops, mp3s and cell phones need to be screened separately. Now, that the regulations are less stringent the question remains which destination is your next flight to.

The most effective way of dealing with jet lag is ample rest, a healthy diet and adequate exercise. One should try and get plenty of sleep before boarding the plane, drink plenty of water and avoid alcoholic drinks and caffeine during the course of the flight. One should also try and exercise their legs a little and keep relax their muscles as much as possible during the flight. When one arrives at their destination, one should try and adapt to the local time- eat and sleep accordingly. Exposure to sunlight is also handy in warding off jet lag.

Canine on the Go - Air Travel Tips for Your Dog

air travel tips
Dogs are mostly comfortable taking a flight if they are used to traveling in the car. However, a little preparation is required and a little caution needs to be exercised before your pet takes a flight. A health check up for your four legged companion is a must, an inspection letter from the pet’s vet not older than ten days is mandatory according to legislation.

It is to ensure that the dog is vaccinated and free of transmissible diseases. Leaving the geographical territory of one country would mean that the dog will require quarantine. As an owner you should also ensure that the temperatures during the hours of flight are between 35 and 85 degrees. Though small dogs are allowed on board, medium and large sized dogs are transported into shipping case during the flight. It is important that dogs are trained to socialize with strangers and are comfortable in confinement.
