Jet lag is the most frequent complain of air travelers. Caused by long distance trans-meridian travel on a plane and the disruption of one’s body’s natural pattern, it is a problem that is rampant among travelers and often a cause of worry for most of them. Though the symptoms are subjective depending upon the distance from one’s own time zone, the most common are fatigue, constipation, mild depression, irregular sleep patterns etc.
The most effective way of dealing with jet lag is ample rest, a healthy diet and adequate exercise. One should try and get plenty of sleep before boarding the plane, drink plenty of water and avoid alcoholic drinks and caffeine during the course of the flight. One should also try and exercise their legs a little and keep relax their muscles as much as possible during the flight. When one arrives at their destination, one should try and adapt to the local time- eat and sleep accordingly. Exposure to sunlight is also handy in warding off jet lag.
