Airport Authority of India

The Airports Authority of India manages and operates all the airports of India. It is basically handled by Ministry of Civil Aviation. It looks after 126 airports that include 16 international airports, 89 domestic airports and 26 civil enclaves. The Airports Authority of India was formed on 1st April 1995. It was created by inclusion of International Airports Authority of India and the National Airports Authority. The basic idea behind the formation was to pick up the pace in the integrated development, expansion and modernization of the operational, terminal and cargo facilities at the airports in the India. The corporate headquarters of AAI are at Rajiv Gandhi Bhawan, Safdarjung Airport, New Delhi.
